In 1943, when Ike Sewell opened a restaurant the corner of Ohio Street and Wabash Avenue in Chicago, Americans ate pizza primarily as a snack.  Little did he know that it was the start of an American tradition.  In the mid-1990s, UNO broadened its concept to encompass favorite dishes that diners expected from a high quality, full-service restaurant.  To expand the menu and meet increasing customer expectations, UNO completed a muti-million dollar kitche upgrade in its restaurants, installing saute station, grills and fryers, and invested heavily in the training of its front and back of the house staff.  The new UNO Chicago Grill locations are larger and feature a "Chicago warehouse" look that creates an inviting dining environment.  These new prototype restaurants continue to generate above-average sales volume. 

The new UNO Chicago Grill menu, introduced in fall 2005, offers hip and intense new tastes that are built on UNO's history of artisanal fare.  Although there are many food changes underway, loyalists need not be concerned.  A number of UNO Chicago Grill's specialties, such as its world-class Chicago Deep Dish Pizza, will remain as signature dishes on the new menu. 

Locally, UNO Chicago Grill of Smithfield, under the supervision of General Manager - Gary McCauley, is everyone's favorite.  Gary joined the Chamber a few years ago seeking the usual benefits - networking and meeting business people.  But Gary's goal has gone beyond that!  Gary joined the Board of Directors in 2008, and is currently serving as 1st Vice Chair.  Gary makes himself available to help other Chamber members and encourages them to call him at any time at the restaurant, 233-4570.  Or, stop in, say "Hello" to Gary, and tell him The All New North Central Chamber of Commerce sent you!  Enjoy!

Nancy Carrott always lends a helping hand to the Chamber. Previously employed by Tri-Town Community Action Agency where she was an asset as a Job Developer. Nancy is a graduate of the University of Rhode Island with a Bachelor of Science degree. Nancy has become an asset to the Chamber. Nancy is a regular at all of our “Business After Hours” with a warm, welcoming smile. Nancy states “As an Ambassador for the North Central Chamber of Commerce it is a privilege to serve the Chamber by welcoming new businesses into the area and striving to support its members.”

Nancy is dedicated to her family, which is comprised of two sons and their families – she is the proud grandmother of two; in addition, Nancy enjoys spending time with her extended family, as well. The North Central Chamber thanks Nancy from the bottom of their heart for all of her help and support.
